At EHAS SA PTY LTD, we are committed to creating a safe, supportive, and empowering environment for all children and young people involved in our programs. The safety and wellbeing of every participant is our top priority, and we uphold the highest standards of child protection in all our activities.

Our Commitment

EHAS SA is dedicated to ensuring that children and young people feel safe, respected, and valued. We promote their right to participate, learn, and express themselves without fear of harm, abuse, or discrimination.

Scope

This policy applies to all EHAS SA staff, mentors, volunteers, contractors, and partners who work with or have contact with children and young people through our programs, workshops, camps, and community events.

Child Safety Principles

We are guided by the following principles:

  • Every child and young person has the right to feel safe and be protected.

  • Child safety is everyone’s responsibility — from mentors and staff to community partners.

  • We value diversity and respect the unique backgrounds, cultures, and experiences of all children.

  • We actively listen to and empower young people to speak up about their concerns.

Code of Conduct

All EHAS SA staff, mentors, and volunteers must:

  • Act respectfully and responsibly toward children and young people.

  • Maintain professional boundaries at all times.

  • Never engage in any form of physical, emotional, or sexual abuse or exploitation.

  • Report any concerns or suspicions of harm immediately to the appropriate supervisor or authority.

Screening and Training

EHAS SA conducts thorough background checks, including Working With Children Checks (WWCC) or equivalent, for all staff, mentors, and volunteers involved in youth programs. Regular training is provided to ensure understanding of child safety, ethical behavior, and reporting responsibilities.

Responding to Concerns

All concerns, disclosures, or suspicions of abuse or neglect will be taken seriously and handled promptly, fairly, and confidentially.
We follow the relevant South Australian child protection laws and reporting procedures to ensure the safety of every young person.

Participation and Empowerment

We encourage children and young people to express their ideas, participate in decision-making, and provide feedback about our programs. Their voices help shape safer and more inclusive spaces.

Continuous Improvement

EHAS SA regularly reviews its child safety policies and practices to maintain the highest standards of care and protection.
